Dear Friends,
I am excited to announce a significant step forward for Sunday Friends. Michael Hobson has become the new Executive Director of Sunday Friends and I am moving to lead the Board of Directors.
This change honors Michael’s six years of exemplary performance as Associate Director of
Sunday Friends.
It also moves our organization forward on our path towards long-term sustainability.
Over the course of nearly thirteen years, our organization has become progressively stronger and less dependent upon me, thanks largely to the excellent co-leadership provided by Michael, our program management staff and over one hundred volunteer leaders. It is now time for me to let this successful team manage the day-to-day operations while I turn my attention to the strategic planning and oversight of the organization from the Board level.
I will continue to be a passionate guardian of the vision and the feeling of Sunday Friends. And you can be sure that I would never relinquish the Executive Director role unless I was rock solid sure that Michael shared my dedication to our mission and our core values.
My confidence in Michael is built upon his record: his highly effective, mission-guided and creative contributions in all areas of Sunday Friends, the innovation he brings to efficiency of operations, the careful attention he brings to compliance, legal, ethical and budget matters, the breadth and depth of education he has acquired with respect to nonprofit management and the respect he has earned from thousands of community members. The future of Sunday Friends is in good hands.
Since we’re still a hands-on organization, you will continue to hear from me as well as from Michael. We’ll both be there in most programs (you just can’t keep us away). We look forward to many more years of working with you to build strong, self-sufficient families with hopeful futures.
